MU Research Paper Among the American Physiological Society Top Picks

The American Physiological Society chose a study that was a collaboration between the College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Department of Medicine in the School of Medicine, and Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital (Truman VA) as one of its Best Research Articles for August. The paper, “Aldosterone impairs coronary adenosine-mediated vasodilation via reduced functional expression of Ca2+-activated K+ channels,” appears in the “American Journal of Physiology – Heart and Circulatory Physiology.” The paper, from the laboratory of Shawn Bender, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and research health scientist at the Truman VA, includes first author Maloree Khan, a former MU undergraduate student, Douglas Bowles, PhD, professor and chairman of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Scott Brown, a graduate student and Alex Meuth, a former research specialist in the department, among the paper’s authors, along with Bysani Chandrasekar, PhD, professor in the Department of Medicine and a research career scientist at the Truman VA.
