Nishant Sinha, a graduate student in the laboratory of Dr. Shyam Chaurasia, Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine and Surgery departments, recently took first place at the annual MU Health Sciences Day, for his poster entitled, “Corneal Remodeling in Mini Ossabaw Pigs with Type II Diabetes.”
The results of this study found altered levels of collagen in diabetic corneas compared to healthy age-matched corneas. This notably altered expression of structural parameters suggests the vulnerability of the corneal tissue to diabetic conditions.
