Admissions Application

You must have completed the requirements for a Bachelor’s degree, and plan to work towards a graduate degree at the University of Missouri in order to apply to our program. Students already enrolled in University of Missouri graduate programs are also eligible.

You must also apply online to the University of Missouri Graduate School at the MU Graduate School Website Application

Make sure that your MU Graduate School application includes;

  • Three (3) recommendation providers (e.g. professors) who are familiar with your academic abilities;
  • A personal statement to the graduate director stating why you want to pursue graduate study in Biomedical Sciences at MU; your research experience and interest area (list any publications or presentations at national meetings); your career goals.
  • Optional: You may also include a curriculum vitae (CV) if you have one.

Applications for fall and spring admission are reviewed year-round, and there are no deadlines.  However, you are advised to submit your application at least one month prior to the start of each semester (second week of July for fall admission; first week of December for spring admission).  Your application may not be reviewed if submitted later than these dates.  Financial support through competitive Departmental stipends and University fellowships is only available to Fall applicants to the Doctoral program. Financial support for Masters applicants is available by arrangement between the applicant and a faculty sponsor.

Application Fee Waivers
The University of Missouri offers application fee waivers apply only under the following conditions:

  • The Graduate School will pay the application fee for participants in select preparatory or service programs(e.g. McNair Scholars, Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) Program participants, NIH PREP Scholars, Peace Corps, etc.).
  • The Graduate School will pay the application fee for U.S. military veterans or current service members. Acceptable documentation include a copy of your active duty orders if you are currently serving or a copy of your DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty if you are a veteran.

At this time we cannot offer fee waivers due to financial or other personal constraints.
